American Anchor recertifies roof anchors, davits, tie-backs, monorails, horizontal lifelines and other fall protection and suspended access systems nationwide, including systems installed or manufactured by others.
OSHA 1910.27, ANSI/IWCA I-14.1 and ASME A120.1 require building owners to have anchorages inspected every year and recertified by load testing at least every 10 years, or every 5 years for adhesive (chemically fastened) anchors. Recertification is also needed after a re-roof, renovation, repair, or any damage or change to the system.
What recertification includes
A visual inspection of every anchor and component, proof load testing, a written report, and a certification for your records. Anchors that fail are tagged out of service.
We keep you on schedule
We track when each building's next inspection and recertification is due and reach out well ahead of time, so your system stays current.
If something fails, we fix it

COMMON QUESTIONS
Recertifications: frequently asked questions
How often do roof anchors need to be inspected and recertified?
Roof anchors and other permanently installed fall protection anchorages should be visually inspected by a qualified person every year. They must be recertified by load testing at least every 10 years, or every 5 years for adhesive (chemically fastened) anchors, under ANSI/IWCA I-14.1 and ASME A120.1.
Who is responsible for certifying building anchors?
The building owner. Under OSHA 1910.27(b), an employer can't let workers use an anchorage until the building owner has confirmed in writing that each anchorage has been identified, tested, certified and maintained.
Does a building need its anchors recertified after a re-roof or renovation?
Yes. Recertification is needed after a re-roof, renovation, repair, or any damage or change to the system or the structure it's attached to, even if the regular recertification date hasn't arrived.
Can American Anchor inspect and certify anchors made by another manufacturer?
Yes. We inspect, load test, certify and repair fall protection and suspended access systems from any manufacturer, not only our own.
Do you offer recurring inspection programs?
Yes. More than 3,400 clients rely on American Anchor for recurring inspections. We track when each building's next inspection and recertification is due and reach out well ahead of time.
