American Anchor is a fall protection and suspended access company founded in 2000 by Bob Zeolla, a career window cleaner since 1975. The company is headquartered at 305 Constitution Drive, Suite A, Taunton, Massachusetts, south of Boston, and serves clients across the entire United States, including Hawaii and Puerto Rico. Our technicians and installation crews are strategically based around the country, from Massachusetts and New Jersey to Chicago, Denver, Florida, Texas and beyond.

What we do

American Anchor is a full turnkey provider. We design and engineer, manufacture, install, inspect, load test, certify and recertify, and repair fall protection and suspended access systems. We also provide BMU inspections and maintenance, consulting, and on-site training, and we inspect, certify and repair systems from any other manufacturer, not only our own.

We manufacture our equipment at a dedicated facility in the USA and produce more than 200 anchor models engineered for specific building construction types. Our in-house engineering and manufacturing let us design a custom solution wherever off-the-shelf equipment does not fit, for new construction and for buildings two centuries old with no surviving drawings.

Products: roof anchors, davits, monorail systems, horizontal lifelines, outriggers and tie-backs, guardrails and railings, hatch guards, warning lines, and elevated walking and working surfaces including fixed ladders, staircases and crossovers.

Track record

American Anchor has completed more than 50,000 installations, inspections and load tests since 2000, and more than 3,400 clients rely on us for recurring inspections. Through inspections and load testing nationwide, we have identified thousands of defective or non-compliant fall protection components, then engineered, manufactured, installed and certified the corrections. Building owners, contractors and engineers regularly bring us in to assess and correct systems installed by others.

Our clients include Fortune 500 companies in defense, pharmaceuticals, entertainment and hospitality, as well as military installations, biomedical research facilities, leading research universities, major hospital systems, commercial office towers, and national general contractors. Projects include multi-million-dollar building maintenance unit installations at flagship casino resorts, and several client relationships have run continuously for more than fifteen years.

Leadership and industry involvement

American Anchor's leadership came up through the window cleaning trade and holds leadership roles on the standards committees and industry councils that shape the field. Founder and President Bob Zeolla is a past president of the International Window Cleaning Association and serves on the ANSI I-14.1 window cleaning safety committee. Vice President Bobby Zeolla chairs the Permanently Installed Equipment Council of the Scaffold & Access Industry Association (SAIA), is SPRAT and IRATA certified, and has educated more than 1,000 business owners, safety managers and industry professionals nationwide through conference presentations, live load test demonstrations and published articles in SAIA's Scaffold & Access Magazine. Several members of our leadership, including the head of new construction, came to American Anchor from careers in the window cleaning trade.

From the President: Robert (Bob) Zeolla

As a career window cleaner since 1975, Bob Zeolla was acutely aware of the hazards of working in the suspended access business. Most buildings lacked adequate anchorages, and the rigging practices in the past offered little assurance against a catastrophic accident. The lack of adequate safety equipment and standards resulted in injuries, fatal accidents, and lawsuits against building owners for millions of dollars. Bob became involved in training and the development of regulations to make a positive change. He put together a team of engineers and construction experts to develop products using the best resources available, and American Anchor was formed.

His initiative has resulted in improved safety for workers, the public, and building owners. Bob served as the President of the International Window Cleaning Association in 2001 and he was a Member of the ANSI IWCA, I-14.1 Window Cleaning Safety Committee, Published October 2001. He is a current ASME A-120 Powered Platforms for Building Maintenance Committee member and has been a member of the Board of Directors of the International Window Cleaning Association for over 10 years.
