Fall Protection Consulting and Rooftop Safety Assessments

Free site consultations

When we are bidding a project, we visit the site, look at the roof and facade, and put together a design at no cost. These bid-stage designs are not PE stamped.

In-depth consulting and stamped submittals

New construction and larger projects that need in-depth engineering, coordination with the design team, or PE-stamped submittals are billed as a consulting service.

Rooftop safety assessments

We evaluate existing roofs, facades and access equipment from any manufacturer and determine whether each system is safe or hazardous. When something needs to change, we can engineer, manufacture, install and certify the correction.

Codes and standards

We work to OSHA 1910.27, OSHA 1910.66, OSHA 1910.140, ANSI/IWCA I-14.1, ASME A120.1 and the ANSI/ASSP Z359 fall protection code.

Where the industry is going

Founder and President Bob Zeolla serves on the ANSI I-14.1 window cleaning safety committee, and Vice President Bobby Zeolla chairs the Permanently Installed Equipment Council of the Scaffold & Access Industry Association (SAIA).

Building owners, contractors and engineers regularly bring American Anchor in to assess and correct systems installed by others.

COMMON QUESTIONS

Consulting: frequently asked questions

Is a site consultation free?

Yes. When we are bidding a project, the site consultation and a design without a PE stamp are free. In-depth consulting for new construction or larger projects that need stamped submittals is billed as a consulting service.

Are American Anchor installations engineered and stamped?

Every suspended access installation is supervised, approved and stamped by a licensed professional engineer. For other systems, such as fall arrest and restraint equipment, American Anchor can provide engineering, stamping and certification when a project requires it.

Which codes and standards apply to fall protection and suspended access?

The main ones are OSHA 1910.27 (rope descent systems and anchorages), OSHA 1910.66 (powered platforms), OSHA 1910.140 (personal fall protection systems), ANSI/IWCA I-14.1 (window cleaning safety), ASME A120.1 (powered platforms for building maintenance), and the ANSI/ASSP Z359 fall protection code.

Who is responsible for certifying building anchors?

The building owner. Under OSHA 1910.27(b), an employer can't let workers use an anchorage until the building owner has confirmed in writing that each anchorage has been identified, tested, certified and maintained.
